Market in the Making
High Point Fall Market: just hearing the name brings a buzz of excitement, mixed with the realization that it’s time to buckle down and get to work. If you're not familiar, "market" might sound like a casual shopping trip, but for those in the furniture, retail, and manufacturing world, it's so much more. It's where creativity meets business, and where new ideas, products, and trends come to life.
High Point Market is like a huge stage where manufacturers get to show off their latest designs to eager retail buyers. But much like how Fashion Week has evolved, this event has gone way beyond just being about transactions. It’s become a space where brands make bold statements, define their identities, and create unforgettable experiences that stick with you long after it’s over. Join us as we take you along for the ride through this October’s 2024 Market season, where design and innovation collide in the best possible way.
Brainstorming & Trend Forecasting
Trend forecasting and brainstorming for product development is where it all starts. It kicks off with a deep dive into our trend report, where we explore what’s influencing consumer preferences and how those trends align with our product vision. From there, our product development team thoughtfully brings these trends to life, weaving in colors, fabrics, shapes, and design influences to create something truly special. It’s all about taking what’s trending and making it our own.
Sample Development
The Product Development (PD) team is hard at work strategizing which styles will make the cut for the next show. They review our catalog to spot any gaps in the assortment, curating a mix of best-sellers, revamped underperformers, and exciting new designs. To fine-tune the selection, the PD team partners with Sales for insights on what’s resonating and to gather fabric and frame suggestions.
Once the lineup is locked in, it’s time for Engineering to bring the designs to life. Prototypes are crafted, reviewed, and sent back with notes for adjustments. Initially, Product Development leads the feedback process, but as things evolve, Marketing, Sales, and Management step in to fine-tune the final choices.
Product Review
As we get within 2-3 weeks of the show, it’s time for the final product review. We schedule trucks to bring the finished furniture up from Mexico, and each load is carefully reviewed by our product development and marketing teams. This is when we decide if any last-minute tweaks are needed, and sometimes, a few pieces don’t make the cut. It's all about nailing the little details—right down to the fabric on a pillow—to ensure everything comes together seamlessly.
Once the furniture is approved, our marketing team takes the lead with a photoshoot to capture each piece before it's loaded up and sent off to High Point for the final showroom build-out.
